Behind our sixth Advent door, it's all about sweaters—versatile companions that simply work in everyday mom life and look extravagant over a silk dress.

A sweater is always a good choice.

A sweater always works.

A classic that no one can ignore:

The PULLOVER!

The first garments resembling today's sweaters appeared in Europe in the early modern period.

They were mostly knitted and were used by fishermen and sailors at work to protect them from the cold.

The term “pullover” is derived from the English verb “to pull over” – meaning, essentially, a “garment to pull over one's head.”

The sweaters were hand-knitted, and characteristic wool sweaters with cable patterns were created, particularly in regions such as Guernsey, Jersey, Norway, and Ireland, which still exist in this form today.

In the 19th century, industrialization made it easier to produce knitwear, as the first knitting machines were invented. Sweaters could now be produced in larger quantities and became part of the uniforms of sailors and athletes.

Around 1880, British students and athletes began wearing sweaters outside of work and sports for the first time – marking the first step towards the sweater becoming leisurewear.

In the 1920s, Coco Chanel made knitwear socially acceptable, and by now at the latest, the sweater was no longer considered a purely practical garment, but had arrived in fashion.

In the 1950s and 60s, the sweater became a symbol of elegance and intellectualism. Fine-knit turtlenecks in particular were now worn in artistic and intellectual circles. The 70s and 80s, on the other hand, were characterized by colorful and patterned pieces, and loose, oversized cuts also became trendy, which can be observed again today.

Nowadays, sweaters are available in countless materials. Of course, different types of wool are still number one, but allergy-friendly materials such as cotton and silk are also widely represented in our designers' collections.

Many sweaters are machine-knitted, but especially in the avant-garde sector, there are also many hand-knitted sweaters.

Whether extra short or loose and oversized, you are guaranteed to find the perfect sweater for you here.

THE SWEATER in its many different variations is one of the garments that I personally find irresistible time and time again. How many sweaters I have in my personal wardrobe remains a secret, but I can tell you, it's a looooot....
