Safety in the workplace is not a one-off measure, but a mindset. “Think Safety” means that everyone - from employees to managers - actively contributes to accident prevention and health protection.
Safety in the workplace is important and not a modern invention; the origins of occupational health and safety date back to the industrial revolution. Long working hours, dangerous machinery and a lack of protective measures led to many accidents at work.
The first official regulations for “work” came into force. The first measure was to ban child labor. Other measures - which we now take for granted - followed. Did you know that our insurance policies were created in the course of occupational health and safety?
In 1883-89, Otto von Bismarck introduced social legislation to protect workers in germany: health, accident and pension insurance were born.
Meanwhile, occupational health and safety is still a key topic and issues such as active health promotion are also coming into focus.
