Bert Kirner was born in 1951 and grew up in Müllheim in the Markgräflerland region.
He studied art in Karlsruhe and worked there for many decades in his studio in an old flag factory.
He died on 18.11.2022 in Karlsruhe.
Fascinated by ornithology and bullfighting, these themes are also frequent motifs in his paintings.
There always had to be a fresh white lily in his studio - this particular flower also appears again and again in his works of art.
He loved visiting art museums on his many travels and being inspired by the beauty of the countries he visited.
In the eighties, he was described by the press as a "spontaneous painter"
who does not get lost in details.
His work impressed with an ambivalence of motif and graphic structure, a free, almost monumental and at the same time differentiated use of means and emphasis.
We got to know Mrs. Kößler-Kirner, her story and that of her husband through a spontaneous encounter in our store. Immediately impressed
by the expressive art, this chance meeting developed from an idea to an exhibition of Bert's life's work.
We are delighted to be able to show these impressive and
powerful works of art.
