Music that connects – Candela Mestiza live with us
This year, we were able to host a very special concert in our large steel hall: Candela Mestiza, a German-Colombian band, joined us and captivated everyone with their rousing, warm-hearted music.
Candela Mestiza is much more than a musical project. The musicians volunteer their time and tour across Europe to raise funds for the Corporación Educativa y Social Waldorf (CES Waldorf) in Ciudad Bolívar, one of the poorest and most dangerous districts of Bogotá.
The project offers around 220 children, adolescents, and their families a protected space — the “House of Colors” — amid a reality shaped by displacement, violence, and poverty.
Inspired by Waldorf education, a dedicated team of educators, social workers, physicians, and therapists works there to provide education, artistic expression, medical care, and psychological support — holistic, caring, and focused on a dignified life beyond hardship and exclusion. Music there is not only a form of expression but also a tool of healing and hope — something that was palpable at this concert.
We are grateful for this special visit and will continue to support the project wholeheartedly.
