KNIT + SUMMER ... a declaration of love!

Knitwear is also a must-have in summer because it is light, breathable and versatile.
The history of “knitting” goes back a long way, although there is no consensus as to when knitting actually began.

It probably originated in the Middle East and then spread to Europe - the oldest surviving knitting fragments date back to the 13th century and show complex patterns that allow conclusions to be drawn about a very complex and sophisticated knitting technique.

Up until the 19th century, everything was knitted by hand.

In 1863, the American Isaac William Lamb invented the first flat knitting machine, which was still hand-operated at the time. Nevertheless, this made it possible to produce knitwear faster and process the yarns used more quickly. Complex knitting patterns were not yet possible by machine, however - mostly right/right tubular knitting was used.

In 1880, the motorized knitting machine was invented and knitwear could now be produced more cheaply.

It is impossible to imagine fashion without knitwear and, thanks to the many different types of knitwear and yarns, there is hardly anyone who does not own at least one knitted item.

Modern summer knitwear is often made from lightweight materials such as cotton, linen

or bamboo viscose, which allow the skin to breathe and are comfortable to wear.

It is perfect for cooler summer evenings or - and of course all fans of the avant-garde know this - THE LAYER LOOK!
